GUEST EXTENDS DEAL

Back row Tom Guest has extended his Harlequins deal til 2012 recenlty. Guest was due to be out of contract at the end of this season but decided not to activate a clause in his deal that allowed him to talk to other clubs.

“There’s so much potential in this young squad and I am excited about the future,” the ex-Academy player said.

Guest has made 130 appearances and is Quins’ leading try scorer this season.

SMITH INJURED

Harlequins rugby team have lost Ollie Smith and he is a major doubt for the season. Smith was taken off on a stretcher half an hour into the game at Vicarage Road and must now undergo surgery.

The 28-year-old, who has five England caps and scored a try in his one appearance for the Lions in 2005, only joined Quins last summer.

But the club say Smith is set to be out for “a number of months” after a scan.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE TO DEPART FOR HARLEQUINS

Harlequins chief executive Mark Evans has said that he will be leaving the team in February. Evans took up the role 10 years ago but is departing Twickenham Stoop to set up a sports consultancy business.

Quins chairman Malcolm Wall said: “Mark has been an outstanding CEO for Harlequins for the last 10 years.

“He has led the club from the early, uncertain days of professional rugby and established us as one of the leading lights in the Premiership.”
